My new book , ELEPHANT’S STORY, published by Margaret Ferguson Books, Farrar Straus Giroux (BYR), will be available in October  2013. I will join him at BEA in NYC. He will still be in F&G form….but he can’t wait to get out into the world. So…off he goes to the big city.
He now has his own book page on my website: http://www.traceycampbellpearson.com/books/elephant.html

Elephant has his own blog!
http://elephantstoryblog.com
I will help him post “everything elephant”….starting with images of elephants. I have stumbled upon many since the day I decided to write this book. The blog will have sketches, activities for the book and…well….everything elephant…keep checking.

I will be at the Silent Auction and Sendak Memorial Auction at the Javits Center in NYC. I have two pieces of artwork in the auction:

Gracie reading Where The Wild Things Are to Elephant-original watercolor for The Sendak Memorial at the 19th Annual Children's Book Silent Auction-Supporting Free Speech Rights for Young Readers May 29 at Book Expo America

Gracie and Elephant fell out of my pen and landed on the page…much like they did in their book. I thought about Maurice often while I was making the book, Elephant’s Story. I was a student of Maurice’s in the 70’s.

The book was drawn to Stan Getz and Miles Davis. However, this piece of art is for Maurice…It was drawn to Mozart.

I am happy that it will be part of the Sendak Memorial.

I am also donating a signed digital print (100% rag paper) from my book Bob published 2002 by Farrar, Straus & Giroux. I have been asked again and again for prints from Bob. I’m sorry I am not more organized and do not remember who you are! Finally I made this print for the auction. Maybe you will be at the Silent Auction at the Javits Center in NYC on May 29th? It is for a great cause. Bob is happy he can be there.
